In this tutorial you are going to see how split video in shotcut.

First add/import video to shotcut, video will start to play in source preview panel. Add the video to playlist. Drag and drop the video on timeline or add video track on timeline and then drag and drop the video over it. Now drag the playhead where you want to split the video. 

Right click on the video and click on split at playhead. Or you can use split at playhead buttton to split the clip. Or you can use s key on keyboard to split the clip. To remove the part click on it and hit the delete key on keyboard. To remove the blank space between clips just drag the parts to join them.

There are different ways to split the video so let’s see them one by one. First you will need to bring the video in Shotcut then add it to playlist and drag and drop it on timeline. 

Click on the play button to check the video.

 Method 1 – 

To split the video take the play head where you want to split the video right click on the video on timeline and click on split at playhead. Repeat the same method wherever you want to split the video. 

 Method 2-

 To split the video click on split video at playhead icon. 

 Method 3- 

To split the video at playhead you can hit the S key on keyboard. 

So this way we can split video in shotcut.
