How To Add Fade In / Out Effect In Kdenlive?

In this post we will see how to add fade in / fade out effect to video & audio using Kdenlive video editor.

How to fade in video in kdenlive
Fade In / Fade Out Effect

First drag and drop the video on timeline. Click on the play button to check it. You can see by default there is no effect applied to our clip.

Now click on effect and in search box type fade.

Add To Video-

First method –

Fade In Video –

Under motion Drag & drop fade in effect at the beginning of the clip.Check the fade from black if you want to add fade from black effect with fade in.

Now click on the play button to check it.

Change duration of effect –

To keep it longer or shorter drag the duration slider.

Delete effect-

To delete the effect click on it and click on delete button in effects/ transitions stack window.

Fade Out Video-

Same way you can ad fade out to video just add it at the end of the clip and click on fade to black checkbox.

Second Method-

Take the mouse pointer at the left corner of the clip & drag it towards right side to add fade in effect.

Take the mouse pointer at the right corner of the clip & drag it towards left side to add fade out effect.

Add To Audio-

Fade In Audio

In effects search box search fade effect. Under audio correction you can see fade in effect drag and drop it at the beginning of the audio clip. To increase the duration of effect drag the duration slider in effects/transition stack window.

Fade Out Audio-

Same way you can add fade out to audio just add it at the end of the audio clip.
